Leon County is ready to take our Tax Tea Parties to the next step by forming a local organization to investigate spending, taxation, and the budgets of our local government. We are a Bipartisan group of concerned citizens who are looking to the issues facing our community.

If you want to do more than just show up for a protest, if you want to be in on the ground level, if you are ready to take a stand against wasteful government spending and finally hold our elected officals accountable, this is the group for you!

We have broken down our group into 3 subgroups:
Leon County
City of Tallahassee
School Board

Individuals can pick an area, budget, and elected officals they are most interested in investigating and holding accountable. These subgroups will do work independently with the full support of the entire group. This creates a focused effort.

We will also be focused on educating the public on the more complex issues that affect us the most such as; utilites, millage rates, mandates, and the heirarchy of local non-elected managers. We are looking at organizing town hall style meetings so that our group cannot only have a voice within the chambers of the leon county or city of tallahassee meeting, but also have face to face, open discussion with our local officals.

We have a monthly meeting the last Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm at Marinated Mushroom on Capitol Circle NE. We discuss the progress in the subgroups, national issues, and future action items. Please join us and speak to the issues you are most concerned about!

Officers:
Samantha Ferrell- President
Stephanie McAllister- Vice President
Ann Yarko- Executive Secretary
Micheal Thompson- Executive Treasurer
School Board Chair: Tim Haifley
State and Federal Chair: Randy Agerton
Leon County Chair: Nathan Allen

**** We want to give a special thanks to the Marinated Mushroom for providing us with a FREE meeting space. Melinda McDaniel is a strong supporter of our movement and is so kind to do this for us. Please stop in to the Marinated Mushroom for lunch or contact her for any catering needs you may have.****

The past few weeks sure have been busy and the next couple of weeks provide several opportunities to get out into the community and get your voice heard!

On Tuesday September 22nd at 6pm there will be a County Commission Public Hearing in the County Courthouse. This is your opportunity to speak out to the commissioners on the county budget. On Wednesday September 23rd at City Hall there will be a City Commission Public Hearing on the Budget and milage increase. This is your chance to make your voice heard on the tax increase the city commissioners are proposing.

GOTCHA meeting on the last tuesday of the month. It will be September 29th at 5:30pm at the Marinated Mushroom on capitol circle NE. We will be discussing next steps we can take to fight wasteful government spending, action items we can take to expose bad budget decisions, community outreach and education, and long term club goals. We look forward to everyone's input. Time permitting, we may break into our individual subcommittees at the very least to touch base with your chairman and look to set finalized meeting times for these subcommittees.

Welcome
